Digital marketing is the marketing of products or services using digital technologies, mainly on the Internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising, and any other digital medium.
Digital marketing’s development since the 1990s and 2000s has changed the way brands and businesses use technology for marketing. As digital platforms are increasingly incorporated into marketing plans and everyday life, and as people use digital devices instead of visiting physical shops, digital marketing campaigns are becoming more prevalent and efficient.
Digital marketing includes the following channels:

- search engine marketing (SEM)
- content marketing
- influencer marketing
- content automation
- campaign marketing
- data-driven marketing
- e-commerce marketing
- social media marketing
- social media optimization
- e-mail direct marketing

To be effective, your digital marketing strategy should include several channels. However, the most important thing is that it should be consistent across all selected channels. Consistency is key. Your marketing efforts should augment your brand.
Marketing is not just running a special on products or services. Marketing is getting the word out about your company. What your company does and how it does it. Why the consumer should pick you over your competition. Many things go into marketing.
Marketing is about building TOMA or Top of Mind Awareness. It’s about being in front of the consumer enough that when they need something you offer, they think of you first. It’s about building awareness, a following if you will.
With digital marketing, you can engage the consumer by allowing them to post feedback on your products and services. Some businesses are afraid to do this. However, if you are reputable, provide a good service at a fair price and always take care of your customer, this works to your favor. The more good things people say about you, the more new consumers will want to visit your establishment.
Another benefit of consumers posting reviews is it is helpful on the SEO. We will talk more about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in a later article, but that is essentially the ranking giving to you by the search engines. When someone searches for something, the order displayed is dependent on the SEO rankings. The higher the ranking, the closer to the top you are.
